My Guyana Red-Tail
I notice that I can hear a slight whissle when she inhales or exhales. Her sheds are perfect and she eats regularly (1 a week). Do any of you guys know what could cause this? I just want her in the best health possible. Let me know what you guys think...

Re: My Guyana Red-Tail
respiratory infection maybe. What are the temps(both warm and cool side)/humidity in the cage? Is there any unusual fluid around her nose/mouth? Is she breathing with her mouth open at all?

My thermostat broke about a month ago and I don't know the humidity. There isn't any fluid around her nose or mouth and she doesn't breath out of her mouth at all.

Re: My Guyana Red-Tail
That's at least a good sign that there's no runny nose and she's not breathing through the mouth. Your top priority should be getting a new temperature/humidity guage. Incorrect humidity and temperatures are the top 2 reasons why snakes and other animals can develop ailments and it's most likely the case why your's is breathing weird.
Lots of people (including myself) use one of these that you can purchase from Walmart for around $15-$20 I think. They show temps in 2 locations (put the one with the long cord under the warm hide) as well as humidity.

Re: My Guyana Red-Tail
Let us know what the temps/humidity is once you're able to read it. Without knowing those, it's really hard to diagnose a problem.
Another option of course is to take her to a vet.

I'll get one of those today... I hope she isn't sick. She's acting normal and she's always hungry!

Re: My Guyana Red-Tail
Temp is pretty good. Humidity is generally best 60% plus. Here's a link to a care sheet.
