need some boa questions answerd.
i have a red tail boa she's about 8 months old and around 2 1/2 feet long.
recently i've noticed she's become inactive and i'm wondering is this due to pre-shedding as her eyes are starting to cloud over? also she never leaves her tree to go to the ground and never uses her hide.the enclosure is kept at around 25 to 30 degrees celcius durin the day and around 20 to 25 at night,is this too cold?i have a heat mat covering half the floor so its warm to one side and cooler to the other and her hide is in the middle so it's temp sould be half and half. she never soaks in the fresh water but still she has no problem eating.
any help would be greatly appricated

Re: need some boa questions answerd.
I've found my RTB can do the same. It sounds like yours is definitely getting ready to shed. As for her staying in the trees, this isn't that strange. She might just feel a bit safer in the tree or she might want to get away from the heat mat and cool down.
As for the baths, my RTB will not willingly soak in her water dish, I have to force her to bath once a week but she's slowly getting used to the water.

Re: need some boa questions answerd.
I think the temps sound a little low. I think she would be happier with a warm hide and a cool hide. The hide, being half on and half off the mat will be one temp inside, and may not be to her liking. My boas have never soaked unless they had mites. Here's a good care sheet. http://redtailboa.net/forums/snake/2...ubspecies.html

Re: need some boa questions answerd.
Just so you know, it could still take a week or more to complete the shed, from the time the eyes clear.
