Need a QUICK reply! Question on F/T rats
Mika will not eat her F/T rat (I think it's because she's close to shed, her underside is VERY milky, as well as the top of her head)...I've tried scratching under the tote she feeds in, tapping her nose, and letting it lay in the tub with her...
She will turn and curl under her body to HIDE from it.
Would it be safe to refreeze the uneaten rat and rethaw it (with a room temp water) within a few days?
I want to know this before I refreeze or toss!
Thanks!

Re: Need a QUICK reply! Question on F/T rats
Its okay to refreeze the rat ONE TIME. after that, toss it.
I would also wait until she is at least out of her blue phase before attempting to feed her again. I, personally, wait until they SHED before I feed again.
Trust me, she'll be fine waiting until she is finished shedding to eat. She won't starve by any means.

Re: Need a QUICK reply! Question on F/T rats
Thanks a bunch! Yea, I figured it would be okay just ONCE, I just wanted another opinion...
I was a live feeder before I switched to F/T (because it's safer and cleaner!) and haven't had her deny it.
I'll definitely wait until she's done shedding. <3

Yeah from what I've heard some snakes won't eat during shed?? I have not had this problem?? But I only have 2 snakes. But as far as the refreezing goes yes once ok after that pitch it.

Even if it takes her 3 weeks to complete the process.
Just wanted to add that.

Re: Need a QUICK reply! Question on F/T rats
yeah most snakes wont feed when shedding. Almost like a depressive state. Don't worry she will come out of it when she's done shedding. When she's more active and interested or looks for dinner. Feed her again, until then just refreeze it. I wouldn't try refreezing twice, its not the best idea. But i have seen it happen. Some will eat some will not, depends on how there mood is when they shed. Some are more live and not as hidden and grouchy. Good luck with her.
