Re: Do Blacklights cause snake Blindness
If what you have is a 60 watt bulb is not a black light. Black lights are generally fluorescent and they put out UV. The screw-in, "Night time" or "Moon Glow" bulbs that you get at the pet store are just lavender colored paint inside the bulb rather than the white tint that you usually see.
I would say scratch the night light idea and get a CHE (Ceramic Heat Emitter) anyway. They don't put out any light, but they do put out a lot more heat. Be careful with them though: They MUST be on a rheostat or preferably a thermostat and they will dry the air out, so keep a close eye on the humidity.

Re: Do Blacklights cause snake Blindness
That depends on whether you are worried about light cycles or not. Any light that is visible to you is most likely visible to your snake as well. What it says on the box is a myth. "Myth" is a polite way of saying it's a lie used to sell more light bulbs. It's similar to the lie of saying that the red bulbs you buy from the pet store are somehow different than the red party bulbs you can buy from your local big-box hardware store.

Re: Do Blacklights cause snake Blindness
Personally I don't use lights at all for my individual snake cages. I control the light cycle for the whole room. I suggest that, if you want to continue using light bulbs for heating, that you 86 the whole idea of bulbs that make light and use a ceramic heat emitter instead.
