Somehow I've picked up mites somewhere, so I got some Black Knight to treat everybody with. Right now most of my reptiles are in the same room, but I plan on moving the lizards into another room so when I feed them, their crickets aren't exposed to the black knight. How long should I keep them out of the treated room? And is a room next door with the door shut good enough, or should they be farther away? Also, we are staying with my parents til we can get our mobile home moved in a few months. If these mites came from home, how long can they live without a host? Should I treat everything there before we move the snakes back in, just in case? We'll be out of the house for a total of 4 months or so before we can get it moved. If they're in the house, I sure don't want to reinfect everybody when we finally get moved.
Thanks!

I would treat the empty home now, just in case.
Mites have a two week cycles for eggs to life and the eggs could be dormant for a while but I'm not positive on that.
The current residence though.. I would get the lizards as far away as possible for a little while during the treatment. Their food as well, would be better off that way as well since the BK will most likely kill the food even in a different room.
You have anyone who could sit for the lizards for a little bit?

I don't really have anybody who could lizard-sit. All the snakes are in the basement. I've already brought all the feeder insects upstairs. I could bring the geckos up for a few days, too. There isn't enough room to put them there permanently, but a few days would be ok. How long do you think they will need to be out of the basement? I could even bring everything upstairs to the bedroom for a few days, in case any fumes make their way up to the first floor. Should I close the vents for a couple hours after I spray, so the furnace doesn't bring the fumes upstairs? The furnace is in a separate room, and I could close the door, but would that be enough? I'd hate to kill off a brand new order of crickets!

Hmmm... Geckos can be sensitive to chems near them, so do what you need to do to keep them and the crix safe, like possibly considering an alternative to treat the mites for now.
Check out the Mites sheet for other ways to deal with them for now with little risk to the other animals in your collection.
