Too big of a habitat? Even though he is little now, is it ok if I get a habitat that is large enough to house him four five years from now?

As long as you provide plenty of things for the snake to hide in or under as it travels from one side to the other, it should be fine. Also have at least 2 water dishes in there, one on each end. Might not be a bad idea to place a small one in the center, too, just until the snake gets bigger.

What kind of snake is it? Certain snakes stress easier then others. For instance, a BP yearling would probably feel more stressed then a CBI would. Offering a snake a home that is way to big for it would be similar to putting you in a place the size of a football field. You would probably feel out of place. Snakes are that way. I would recommend starting smaller, then working the snake up to bigger enclosures as they grow.

CBI??? LOL! Just giving ya a hard time.
I don't think that you can really have too large an enclosure as long as they have easy access to water and heat. In a really large cage, I would definately have a separate feeding container.

Snakes in the wild have entire continents for a habitat. But keep in mind that they don't use it all...young snakes tend to stick to places with lottsa cover near whatever they need when possible so they don't have to travel across wide open space. So...provide them with plenty of hides and ground cover...silk plants creating dense underbrush is ideal and makes them feel safe.

dollarstore...a dollar....wallmart 1-3-5-7 bucks...Michales has any and everything you can imagine....very realistic but a little pricey. BTW...when they get dirty...wash them in the sink to get most of the crud off....then run them through the dishwasher when the lady of the house is not home.

There are a few places that sell plants on ebay. They advertise them for weddings but look like a super deal. The "clumps" can be cut apart and make several smaller plants.
