Always hiding....
Hey guys I did a quick search and didn't see anything but is it normal for my Suri to constantly hide under the Substrate. I thought she was an original David Blane at about 6:30 yest. morning when I couldn't find her and now she dives straight down and I haven't seen her out since????

Re: Always hiding....
What are her temps? Is she hiding on the warm or the cool side and is her hide too big? They like to feel nice and secure so sometimes when I think I'm giving my lil boy room to grow he dislikes it because its TOO much room.
Also how much traffic in the room where your suri is? s/he could be getting stressed because of lots of movement near her, my new additions get put in a quiet spare bedroom for their 6 mos quarantine which also takes care of the traffic issue.

Re: Always hiding....
I am at around 85 degrees and 60-70% humidity. She is hiding on the cool side and she is in my bedroom low traffic. No hide box not a lot of room in a 10 gal tank but its all i got room for right now i am going to build a 4'x2'x2' enclosure next month.

Re: Always hiding....
Well that's most likely the problem. She needs a hide. The substrate should make her feel fairly secure though. She's not even close to being ready for a 4x2x2 yet though. They stress pretty easily. More importantly, they don't handle stress as well as other boas. There's a theory that too large of an enclosure will stress a young BCC out. I wouldn't take the chance. Read as much as you can about these guys or you'll lose this one. That's a hard way to learn.

OUCH... Yeah that wouldn't be good, well thats why i'm here to learn as much as I can from others so i don't have to make too many of my own mistakes. So do I stay with 10 gal. or should I move to a little bigger???

Re: Always hiding....
I think a 20 gallon long would be better. That gives you 12x30" of floor to set up a warm and cool end, and to have a hide and water dish. That's what my suri used at that age.
