My rtb is about 22" long and 3-4 months old. I am feeding him f/t fuzzy rats. His girth is about 3/4" diameter. Should I move up to a little larger size maybe a crawler? He eats every 7 days.

Question 2 - Last night he had a small urate with defacation. His defacation was small but kind of runny. Should this be of concern?

As long as you don't violate the girth rule, go for it. Just don't feed anything larger than the snake's biggest part. As for the defecation, probably not of concern, I'll let someone more experienced in that field answer that one.

I agree with east stingray, as long as the girth of the crawler isn't to much bigger than the girth of the snake WHEN THERE ISN'T A RAT INSIDE HIM ALREADY. Had to emphasize that, I've seen somebody make that mistake once. I know from talking to you in the past your smarter than that but hey, just for others....If he can get by the 2 front shoulders he'll be fine. Watch him, see if he really struggles at the shoulders....Dont' take it out of his mouth if he's trying....if he can't do it he'll back off eventually. Hope that answers question 1.

Again I agree with east stingray....I wouldn't worry about it as of yet? Have you ever had a fecal exam done by a vet on your snake?? I recommend to everybody when you get a new snake at least get a fecal examf to check for worms and other parasites.....If you stretch out the feed to 10 days I bet it won't be quite as runny. Let him absorb some of that rat a little longer and it will get back to being more of a pasty poo....

At that size I would actually have np feeding every 7 days. As long as the snake is eating when offered and digesting it's meals fine. Go ahead and upgrade the size of the prey long as ya do what they ahve said in regards to the girth rule.
