BCC are true redtails. They are native to suriname, guyana, brazil, venezuela and Trinidad. Notice that these countries lie to the far east of South America divided from the west by the Andes Mountains. The most common boas in the pet trade are the
BCIs of columbia and central america.....but just because a snake is a boa doesn't mean they are either
BCI or
BCC as many people seem to think. There are many other subspecies of boa. Also...there are locales where the mountains don't block them and crossing does occur. For instance...there is only a river between Venezuela and Columbia so there are some
BCC in Columbia and some
