In my viv i would like to put a log in there for my snake to climb on but once it has been in there a couple of days or so mould starts to grow on it. At the moment i just leave it in there while she is shedding and thats it but i would like it in there all the time. do you guys know what i can do to stop the mould growing?
There is no mould growing on the viv it self just on the log.

Well, the only thing you can do to stop the mold is to bake the wood in your oven on low heat (200 to 250 degrees f-- 93 - 151 c) for a few hours to dry it out completely, then varnish it so that it can't absorb moisture.
Polyurethane works great for this but you won't be able to use the wood untill the fumes are gone from the finish.

yep, dry out the wood, or buy the grape vines or cholla branches.
they are usually branchy makiing a nice climb, but they are sturdy too!

Grape vine is particularily nasty about getting mold if it gets water soaked into it. It has so many folds, bends and holes in it and it absorbs all moisture readily. Baking it is the only way to clean the mold off... and even then, the wood is usually damaged and looks butt-ugly. Been there, done that.
I stick to rock and sealed wood in humid cages, and only use branches and unsealed woods for desert or dry enclosures.

a bleach water mix should kill the mold too. but even after I'd do that I'd still bake it like eddie said. I had that once and that's what I did, the soak and bake. never had a problem since. You must have some high humidity in your viv....any pics of the viv??
