Hello All-
As some of you know my little red-tail had mites, well I treated her with mineral oil about a week ago. Since then she ate her meal, but she is not as active as she was before the treatment. The temps range from 82-90 high and low and drop 2-4 degrees at night, so I did not think it was the temp. Then I read something on a snake being dehydrated and she had all the signs so she took a bath last night for 30 min. Am I missing something or is she just tired and lazy this last week. I hope that I am just being a paranoid mom, but she really doesn't want to play anymore. She moves all of five inches a day, please tell me what is going on. Thanks in advance, you guys are great.
Trina

Hey Nomad it probably in connection with the feeding. After snake's feed they will usally not move alot while digestion is taking place give her a few day's and she should be back to normal!

What was her meal? As far as mineral oil, it will dehydrate your snake....But not enough to slow them down. Mine are sluggish too....but that's cause there just lazy....Mine are fixin to go on a diet because there turning into porkers.....I need to work with them more too....So yeah, meals will slow them down ALOT, Shad's probably right with that. But mineral oil will usually cause them to go into shed and it can dehydrate them so make sure he's got plenty of water!!!

I have used mineral oil for years now. I have never had a snake get dehydrated from such either. As for your snake being inactive...when was it fed prior to such?
