OMG what IS this??
I was making the rounds tonight, checking on everyone, and looked in on Luther, our adopted ball python, and he was hissing up a storm at me! Which is very uncharacteristic of him, he's quite docile and sweet most of the time.
Anyway, I notice THIS in the corner of his tub:

He's also laying funny, like this:

Could this possibly be some sort of non-viable egg?? It's hard, but kind of like plastic, moist, and heavy for its size. Could it be some sort of obstruction that he passed? What IS that????
Luther was vet-checked when we first got him, (general physical, fecal tests) he has GIGANTIC spurs and probed male (But I suppose mistakes can happen) and during a very unexpected power outage, Luther briefly shared a tank with our other vet-checked, probed-male ball python, Hefner. Within minutes of combining the two ball python forces, they were all over each other like nobody's business, and we laughed it off, having read in a book that sometimes bored male snakes will "relieve tension" with each other.
I am obviously a moron for putting the two of them together for a few hours, against my better judgment, good job me...
Okay, if that is some sort of egg, since it's been like 3 hours, is it safe to assume that if there are any more eggs in there, Luther is egg-bound? Besides rousting our vet as soon as possible tomorrow morning, (which I definitely WILL do), is there anything else I should do in the meantime?
If it's NOT an egg, and it's some sort of bizarre blockage, is there anything I should be doing for that?
Luther is LITTLE, by the way, MAYBE 1100 grams, MAYBE 3 feet long, and 5 plus years old. He was an adoption, I don't know the history at all, has been on a hunger-strike since the end of February, lives in a 2 foot sterilite tub in a Matrix rack, heated by flexwatt, 88 degrees on the hot end, 78 on the cold, eats f/k small rats, and lives on newspaper.
Any help anybody can give will be greatly appreciated!

Re: OMG what IS this??
Who needs to probe a snake when you can wait for it to lay an egg!
