Heatless light, UVB question

The only floruscent light I can find are these. Is 7% UVB going to be a problem for my columbian red tail boa?

I know they don't need UVB, but will it be bad for it considering it'll be on 12 hours to stimulate daylight. Thanks.

Re: Heatless light, UVB question

I run UVB for most of my snakes for their day night cycle with no ill effect.
I started doing so when I read a study that indicated it would actually stimulate the appetite even in nocturnal species.
I cannot say I have noted any stimulation of appetite but then I have only one problem feeder and he must be fed in a confined small container in total darkness.

Re: Heatless light, UVB question

you cant find a regular florescent? UVB will not be harmful, but there are regular florescent tube lights everywhere if you didnt want to use UVB, every pet store, home depot, lowes, walmart. and at most of these places are very cheap light fixtures too. I know at walmart you can just buy a fishtank hood light fixture for cheaper than most places.

Re: Heatless light, UVB question

I just found a fixture at Orchard Hardware Supply. 13.99 with the light. So I'm good now. Home Depot didn't have any that were not commercial heavy duty, or took too much space. This one is just right.

Thanks.
