How do I know if my boa is drinking enough or at all? I have never seen him in his water bowl. I have never seen him drink any water since I have gotten him. His water dish is in the middle of his cage and when he moves from one side to the other he either goes around it or over it, but never touches the water. He has pooped once since I have had him and it looked a little on the dry side. I got him the beginning of Sept. and feed him once a week. What is your opinion?
Thanks Tonya

Ya probably don't see when he drinks since most of his activity is at night, in the dark.
Do a pinch test on him.
Just pinch some skin and let go.
If it springs back fairly quickly, he is hydrated well.
If it is slow or stays in the pinched position then he is dehydrated.

My boa always drinks at night...you'll know he's drinking when you see it. They stick their nose in the water and you can see the back of their jaws move as they swallow. Boas are nocturnal for the most part. Yours is probably drinking at night.

Oh yeah. You really should put a water dish at both the "hot" and "cool" sides of the cage. It's my understanding that boas prefer cooler water to drink but they'd probably prefer the warmer water to soak themselves in. Either way, you can't go wrong if you give him a choice of warm and cool.

if the cage is large enough to have 2 then go, but usually 1 is good enough.
i always keep my bowls on the cool side and they soak when ever they want.
snakes are night creatures. it is very likely to be drinking while you are sleeping.
if you want to be sure, take the snake and put its head in the water bowl. thats what i do. they drink.
i sometimes let water pool in my hands and they drink from it.
whenever i mist them, even my 9 footers, come up and drink from the nozzle. amazes my friends all the time.
just put them in the bowl if you have any questions.

that and they get most of thier water from the rodents they eat. so if hes hydrated enough, he might just not be thirsty and when he does get thirsty, like eddie said its probably at night ive seen snakes drink like crazy and ive seen some that hardly drink so every snake is different
