Housing two different snakes in the same cage?

Hello everyone! I have a question that i was hoping someone could help me with... I am currently housing two juvenile snakes of different breads in the same cage... They dont seam like they have any problem getting along or anything. They hide under the same rock together and are very frequently cuddled up together and i was wondering if this was acceptable or not. I am separating them tomorrow regards of if its bad or not. But i was just wondering... Thank you!

Re: Housing two different snakes in the same cage?

there is no really good reason to keep them together..not even the same breeds unless you are breeding...

Re: Housing two different snakes in the same cage?

I'm assuming you are referring to a Python and Boa? This is bad. They are not naturally "friendly." This is in addition to the disease issue, boas and pythons share many if not all of the same diseases and its NOT wise to EVER house them together. If you just purchased one then they need to be in different rooms, using different handling and caging items and hygiene needs to be more carefully observed then normal.

Re: Housing two different snakes in the same cage?

I certainly won't condone the keeping of two snakes together (as I would get thumped by everyone on the site) but years ago (MANY years ago) when I first got into reptiles I kept a small ball python and columbian redtail in the same huge cage with absolutely no problems ever. I have seperate enclosures for my snakes these days, as I have been educated alot more since my younger days.
