Where can I buy a large amount of moss for cheap? Moss that will be safe and moss that I won't have to worry about cooking or cleaning....Right now I am spending maybe 6 bucks for a small bag...but since I upgraded my cage it's going to be disappearing much quicker!
Thanks

I buy mini bales of moss from Herpsupplies.com They come packed so you have to pull it all apart as you use it. It cost $15 and there's so much of it you wont have to buy it too often. The links below. mini bale

The mini-bale is how I buy my moss, too. It's a great value! It's so compressed that there is more than you think in one.
Scooby, you still have to clean it. Any natural or artificial substance you put into your vivarium will have to be washed prior and several times after that in order to keep bacteria down. Many snakes like to eliminate in the moss and you can't just always spot clean. You will still have to remove it every so often and clean it.
To clean moss: Put in bowl or bucket of warm/hot water (how hot can you take it?) and run fingers through it to remove any feces, urates or shed skin. Drain and repeat 2 more times. Squeeze out excess water and place into enclosure.
I know it seems like a real pain, but it all comes down to what you are willing to put up with and how much time you have to actually spend on cleaning enclosures. I don't clean all of mine the same day. I stagger them so it seems like less to do. But then again, I'm on disability and at home everyday, so I have the time to do all this (and it's SOOOOO much fun when I have a migraine - - NOT! but I still do it...) Wow...thanks a lot
Yea...I always wonder why Skylla goes in her hide when she is in there! It's horrible! hahaha!
I usually change the moss in her hide once every week or two depending how bad it looks. I will definitely get that mini bale
Thanks a lot!
