just got a 8 foot red tail boa for free and she looks sick??
one of my buddies got me this snake and said that it had been mis cared for so i built it a nice 7' long by 4'tall and 3' wide enclosure and got it light and logs and what not but it has red boils on its back, i thought it might be scale rot but im not sure i need some help i can take pics but i need to get ahole of a camera, the spots are red and kinda bulg, their about and inch in diameter and there only 2 of them, so can someone help out on what i can do to prevent it from spreading and how to cure it?????

eeek.
I know that you can use neosporin. But that looks pretty bad. I think it probably needs to see a vet.
Wait for some more responses. Good luck!

Don't put any weight in what I say, it's purely uneducated speculation. The sores with white in the center look like burns to me.

That's what I was thinking. They could be burns.

The white is healed scar tissue from what i have seen on Monitors that came in contact with their lights. They could be burns or they could wounds from live feeding but the white is scar tissue as thats the same as what i have seen on a nile monitor after it healed its burned. After a while the white should go away though and trun gray/black. I cant be sure about this as im not any doctor though i have seen it before and was told it was scar tissue.

I was in the same scenario you are in a few years back...Those look like healed live feeder wounds to me. Mine had the same thing. Not saying they aren't burns but they look like the same rescue I had and he hadn't been burned. Where you can see the white/pink skin underneath and no scales. Scales should grow back after a few sheds...hopefully. Make sure you don't feed live and unless you know what you're doing I'd make sure it sees a vet. Good luck.

In the picture thats zoomed out, you can see a patch of scales that are rimmed with white...
don't take my word as a verdict, but it looks like the same kind of blisters that my PB used to have. Blister disease I'm pretty sure.
They were caused by to high of humidity and went away after a few sheds when i hot her humidity fixed.
