Never buying from Creatures, Creatures...
To all who have read my previous posts about my 2 baby colombian boas...the newest one, who ate this past thursday was soaking in her water today. We wondered why, if she was soaking cuz she ate... well, I took her out and checked her out. She has mites!! Of all the stuff I have gone through with this petshop...She had to have had them there (or at least the eggs) none of our other snakes have them...I have treated her with De Flea reptile relief. I also have some mineral oil that i can put on her. Anyone else have any other suggestions...
This has gotten to be a little rediculous!!
Thanks!

Aww... I'm sorry. She should pull through this though. Also, mites can come from new substrate like bark and aspen. Don't put the oil on her... I've never done that, but I've always heard that it could cause skin problems down the line. Click on the word mites (<----), but please be careful using the Repel spray. Don't feed your your boa in it's cage after using the spray, as ingesting just a slight amount of the residue can cause a very scary reaction. This I know from experience.

We took extra precautions when we put the bark in...we baked it to make sure that it was completely parasite free...

mites dont come from substrate, mites need reptile blood to survive, reproduce and thrive. do you know of some kind of new vegetarian mite that lives off of aspen shavings or something? mites come from other reptiles

if a bag of substrate was sitting on top of a cage that had a mite infested animal in it, then yes its possible.
