I have a question that i have heard multiple opinions on!! And i guess i want some more!! I am really interested in the suris or guyanas since they have bright red tails and beautiful colors. Many people have told me that the BCC's can be tempermental and sometimes mean. They also say that i should start with a BCI because they are more docile. Someone please help!! Tell me what you think!
Thanks all..I appreciate it!!

I agree with the majority vote Mike. Colombians won't get as big, they tend to have a more docile temperment, and they are also pretty. I agree that the flaming red tails of the BCC are beautiful, but I like the colombians more myself.

Actually Ive had my Guyanan for about 8 Months and shes never even attempted to bite me, lets me pet her head and do just about anything with her, Ive even held her when she was in full shed and no problems, never even hissed at me either.
Ive been told that BCC's are more likely to get stressed out then a BCI, but Ive had no problems, and I hold my Guyanan almost everyday (cept after feeds).

i think that tempermant has to do with how the snake is raised and handled...if u get a baby suri, and handle it well, and often, im sure she wont be a grumpy snake... shes a BCC that i got full grown almost...almost 8 feet...shes friendly as a puppy...i know the previous owner handled her well and so on....... good luck and welcome to RTB.net

I've long wanted to get a suri or guyanan, but am worried about the temperament...guess you can say my pissy BRB has tainted me, but my bci is as tame as a kitten. Guess when the time comes...

i own both variteties, and, i think bci are better for beginners also because the wont grow as large as bcc does.my snakes are very docile now but when i brought carol ( my baby redtail) home she was the fury unleashed itself but in a few weeks she became very calmed and docile, but i have to tell bci have a better temperament, not to mention that i can leave lucy (my bci) anyplace at home, and i surely find her trying to get into her tank, not the same occurs with carol which can be a problem if you turn your sight out of her , it would be great if u find a bci with a beautiful tail, or maybe an intergrade between both species, we have a lot of those crosses here in venezuela, docile as imperators, beautiful as redtails, could you ever wish more than that?? I have a bci who loves being handled. I also have a male & female Peruvian bcc, both are very good about being handled. The male more so than the female, but both are good about it. I believe its important to handle your snakes often to acheive a docile temperment. Like anything else snakes get in bad moods sometimes and they'll usually let you know it.
