Ive seen some RTB's with the very very tip of their tail curved/bent downward, not like a lot but some, and mainly in Columbian Babies, I was wondering if this is a birth defect, or perhaps a mishap on the breeder/owners part, and if as they grow if it'll straighten out or what can be done for this?

Secondly, I seen a lot of cages (custom built usually) with the lights hanging in the cage, Im wondering what you guys have to say about these types of cages, like if the lights are dangerous, or possibly better than a reg. aquarium setup, or anything else you might add?

Thanks All

Not sure about the first question, perhaps others will be around to help. As for lights, it really depends. In most cages, people use fluroscent lights. These are fine. For other lights, light regular light bulbs, heat bulbs, or other that give off heat and can result in burns, they need to be screened off so the reptile can not come into contact with them.

I'd have to see a picture, but it sounds like what we call a Kink. That is a birth defect that usually will not affect the snake's well being.

Ive seen a lot of Col. RTB babies with them its at the very tip and its like curled down, but only like maybe the length of a fingernail (not even that much). Im asking cause the Albino RTB I just got Sunday has this tip deformity. Which I didnt notice til I got in the car, even tho I had held him for like 30mins at the show . But he has such thin saddles, non-connecting but almost (like connect the dots) and his back/top is bright white and his sides/saddles are really vibrant orange that hes perfect cept for the tail tip. But hes just a baby and Im worried about the tip of his tail .

Also I dont have a scanner or a comp camera so I cant take pics, sorry.

About the reg price $1000 but I talked him down from $1100 . The big thing is I wanted a male, and they seemed hard to come by, and actually of the 7 albinos I saw this weekend, including mine I saw 2 with the tip prob, and one with a kink in its neck .

Most were asking $1200, best deal was one guy had his at 1250, but said hed take 950, but it was a female .

Well this does kinda bring up a point. What is an Albino? Albinoism in itself is a birth defect. it is usually caused by some form of inbreading or genetic flaw. Pretty much like the kinked tail. You have a basically genetically weak snake to begin with. Granted everyone and their Uncle (prolly even uncle morti) wants an Albino. kind of an oxymoron actually. we all want a healthy snake but yet we will pay more for a not so healthy gene in a snake. Just an observation I'm not critisizing anyone. If I could afford one I too would probably get one.

Not me, I think they're...well, they're not for me. I don't dig morphs, unless it's like striped...not albino, not anery not any of that other stuff...
