Mineral spirits will get paint off of your snakes but not ticks.

biff...What kind of snakes exactly were these ? Removing ticks from heat pits can be a pain, but it is not impossible to do. I've done such on ball pythons myself...It's all going to depend on just how cooperative the snake is being also.
