ok, this is my problem. I cut my hands up pretty badly at work yesterday. I'm afraid to handle the snakes because I just know I smell like blood.
in fact, I'm pretty worried about sticking my hands in there for any reason... do you think that the scent of my blood would give them reason to bite?
How long should I wait? I figure when my cuts close it'll be enough... or should I wait until my hands heal all together?
Thanks...

Simply to prevent transmission of salmonella, I wouldn't handle them with open wounds of that nature. Wear rubber/surgical gloves if you need to handle them. As for the blood part, start with your smallest calmest snake

OUCH!!!
Yeah, what J said!
Another thing you can do is de-scent your arms and hands prior to putting on the gloves.
Use any of the hand sanitizers, like the gel type that you rub on and don't wash off, found everywhere these days.
Go for a citrus scent.

ok, thanks guys... can't really put the gloves on now... I'll wait until the wounds close and then I'll use the gel. Thanks.

What on earth did you do to your hand that you keep talking about when the wound closes....are you okay?
Food for thought: He cuts his hand bad enough that he can't put antibacterial gel on it, and his first thought is about his snakes. Hmmm......J/K

I am not to sure about that one. I think the advice is good. I am curious as to what will happen. I am almost tempted to go handle a steak then play wwith a snake to see if it will induce a feeding response. hmmmmm

I wondered about those things, too. Snakes have never struck (struck, hehe) me as being like sharks whereas blood, ANY blood, would cause a feeding response. Interesting. Go ahead Brian, we impatiently await your scientific results

... I'm pretty much ok... at work I was using a knife and ended up slicing my index finger and all the way down the palm of my hand... and then later tried to install our new A.C one handed and messed up my other hands middle finger pretty bad.
All in all not my best week.
