Hello everyone, I went shopping at Walmart to find a big rubbermaid container to feed my 7.5 snakes in, but there are so many different kinds. What size am I looking at here. Should it be a really deep one to feed them in or does it matter? I am having them fed this weekend and I want to make it as easy as possible. I found someone to help me here in Arizona. Thanks for any help.

Isn't the bathroom floor a little cold? Couldn't that shock their system if in there too long?

Yeh but I still wouldn't recommend feeding in the open like that.. No telling where he could wind up when given time to roam around ya kno? I'd invest in the rubbermaids, they are very useful.

The size of your snakes will determine the correct size feed tote.
I use a 36 gal tote with locking lid to feed my snakes. All but one are 6ft or bigger.

I like the Rubbermaid OR Sterilite containers with locking lids. They are both pretty effective.
Make sure you add some air holes for ventilation!
And I agree with StaticKaos, the bathroom could be dangerous - way too many things to grab on to and a lot of germs and bacteria could be in there as well!

My feeding containers are rubbermaid a nd sterylite. I get them big enough for my snake to move around and wrap around, but not too big so they can't find their food. I have a "blanket size" one for my 6' and a shoe box size for my small one. Hope that helps.
P.S. From someone who has ripped apart her bathroom to find a snake. I would try something different. You never realized how fast and how well they can disappear in a bathroom.
If you have no other place to feed them, worse case senario, get a cardboard box that's really deep and feed them in it (watch them so they do not get away).
Good luck feeding this weekend, Karen

I can't remember exactly what they are called, but they come in many sizes and have a blue lide with a handle and 2 very good latches. I use them very often. There are only 2 times that I use a feeding container. 1. If the snake is nonfeeding. 2. If there are several snakes in the enclosure. Generally i try to feed inside the cage. But I do use containers a lot for transport, cage cleaning, etc. And I love those. The only downside is that they do not come in really big sizes.

Yeah, if I was Bw, I would try to avoid taking most of my snakes out also!
I really wouldn't recommend feeding in the bathroom like that. too much bacteria, too many chances of some kind of accident. What about your toilet? do you seal it up somehow? -Juggalo

Hey, thanks for all your replies. I bought a huge rubbermaid tub. I could probably fit in it so its plenty big enough. I also found someone here in Arizona from the Herpetological Association who said they would help me. So I am thrilled. At least I will have some help and guidance and don't have to do this alone. Getting them in and out of their cage is rough. Anyway thank you very much for all your replies. You guys are great and so is this website. I will be a pro in no time.
