hello,
i'm new to the board, but have had snakes off and on for about 20 years. i have a new baby boa that has climbed inside of an artificial climbing tree in her cage. she is up in the limb to far for me to reach.
i don't thing she is stuck, but i would like to get her out. i tried submersing the tree in the bathtub hoping she would crawl out..but she just stayed in there. i didn't leave her under water more than a minute or so then brought her out because i didn't want to drown her. the water was slightly warm.
should i leave the the limb under longer or is there something i could squirt up in there that would drive her out? i would be grateful to any suggestions.

lol, I did that too, with my Corns. The water thing usually works, but since then I don't put hides in there that they can get into and I can't get them out of. If I like the tree, but don't want the hollows, I would block it up with something. Fill it with plaster of paris or something when you get your snake out again. As for getting her out, try tempting her with a mouse. Just keep moving it away from her as she slithers out after it, until she's all the way out.
GL!

Haha!
Welcome to Redtail!
You don't want to keep her under for very long at all, if it doesn't work, then don't keep trying as there is a drowning risk and stress of being dunked!
If it likes to stay warm, try putting the stick in the cool side of your tank. If likes it cool, do the opposite and it may come out when it wants a change.
But as Dragon said, when it's out, plug it up so you won't go through the same again the next day!

I had something like this happen once...I put a small deer skull in a baby boa cage and he got into the brain compartment through the base of the skull where the spinal cord goes in. I was just about to crack it open when I thought....naaaa he got in there...he can get hisself out. So I just set him back in his cage and a day later he was out crawling around...at which time..I removed the skull. That is pretty much your choice...crack it open or leave him till he comes out on his own. When he does come out...stuff the hole with paper towels or playdough and tape it up so he can't get inside.

thanks for all the suggestions. she has been in there since last night. with a flashlight, i can see her head and her toungue flicking, so she is ok. i did switch the limb to the cold side, so maybe she will crawl out for some heat.

Mine did that too. I put the tree in a kitchen size garbage can full of water and left her be for about 5 minutes and she came out. I watched her for a bit but it wasn't til I left her alone that she came all the way out. Took a gamble but it worked. She had been in there for alomst two weeks (although she did sneak out during the night to eat once ) After she was out I stuffed the tree with newspaper and she sulked for a couple of days, but she's relaxed again now. Just my .02.
