scale problem w/Columbia Red tail boa?

our snake has every four to five inches all the way down his body rows of scales that stick straight up that go all the way around his body. he is a little over 6 feet long. anyone know what this is and if it needs to be treated? thanks.

It's not a cause for concern. If you watch your snake as it lays coiled, you will probably note that these arre the areas where the skin bunches up.

Hey...those are called folds...its caused by keeping your snake in a enclosure that is too small...how big is your enclosure...if you transfer him to a bigger enclosure...and if and the snake streches out...a few sheds later the folds should go away...hope this helps [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
