Coughing snake?

Well I was hoping to get some info for a customer from my work. He said his sons python (which is yellow) im guessing its a jungle, is coughing. No flem or regurge. They have'nt noticed any wezzing from what they told me.
I directed him to this site but don't know if he will bother. Don't know why a 15 year old kid has such a snake and the parents have no idea what it is. I asked if it was black and yellow, and he replied "yes its sort of a pattern but not really" it was given to them by someone they use to know but they moved. They do feed it pre kill small rats. I dont know anything eles that comes to mind. They are coming back to my work on Monday to get some stuff on their truck. So any help would be great.
Thanks

Sounds like an RI, Ive yet to hear a snake COUGH, Ive heard hacking noises with RIs, but not what I would call a COUGH..If they dont even know what kind of snake they have, odds are they arent providing the proper husbandry requirements of the snake in question. See what else you can find out about the set up, temps..etc. Def. refer them to a vet.

Well I wont see them till monday. Is there anything that they could do if it is a RI besides vet?
I doubt they want to spend the $ on an snake they allready know nothing about. Ill see if I could find it a home if they dont want to take further care of it. I heard my Burm hack once but only once and never since. What could that have been?

If it really is an RI, raise the temperatures and lower the humidity for about... 14 days? I guess really until it clears up, if that's the case.
