Time between feeding attempts?

Hiya, I got my little hog island boa a week and a day ago, tried feeding him yesterday by wiggling the thawed (Heated in warm running water until I could pinch it between my fingers for a minute and it felt slightly warm) and when he didn't strike or anything I put it back under water to warm it back up, brained it, and put him in a small boring box with it overnight, but he didn't eat it.
I did cheat somewhat in leaving him alone all of the first week, I think. When I changed his water I'd lift up his hides and make sure he's still there. Could I have stressed him out horribly? I haven't done anything with him the last 3-4 days other than change his water.

He was eating live mouse pinks before he came to me, and the breeder reccomended feeding a live pink one week after he arrived... I don't have anywhere to buy live, though.
So, advice?
How long do I wait before trying to feed him again?
(Will answer the form thing in a reply)

pink mice are way too small. Are you sure that's what the breeder was feeding?.... Try a pink rat but wait another week. Think about this...hatchling cornsnakes that are 5 inches long easily take down pink mice. Now look at your boa, small as it may be, don't you think something bigger than what hatchling corns eat is in order? People's assumption that all baby snakes start out on baby mice is probably the number one husbandry killer of young boas and pythons in captivity...It would be my guess anyway.

Yes, pink mice. I specifically asked. I have every intention of switching him to rats as soon as I can get him to eat anything at all.
Starting him off with something tasty to get him to eat anything at all, and to get him on f/t, first.

So wait one week is the final answer?

Switch? He should have never been started on pink mice to begin with. He will burn more calories digesting a pink mouse than he will gain from it. Rats and mice smell and taste different...It's not unusual for a boa to snub a mouse but devour a rat. Perhaps the "anything at all" that he may find tasty will turn out to be his appropriate meal anyway

Well, I figured that since he was started on mice it made sense to start him on pink mice here to get him on f/t, and then once he will eat f/t familiar prey change the prey.
Either way, do I wait one week between feeding attempts? :P
