I have a couple here that do that on occasion. Usually it's because they don't want to go back in. How do you have her home setup? Describe it in detail, temps, humidity, hides....everything.

well i got a heat mat set-up, a hide on each side of the vivarium, a water dish, i use news paper as a subtrate, i even got 2 logs in there the temp is around 84 - 86 on the warm side and about 74 - 76 on the cool side, thats about it, does that sound okay to you? I read up for about a month before i purchased, i guess im just second guessing myself

Maybe the snake just likes to be with you. If so, then
you really do not have a problem, just a loving snake.
Though I do not yet own a RTB, I do have a BP who loves
being handled, not just by me, but lets everyone play with
him. He has not even hissed or looked like a stike was on the
way yet. Handle your snake more, I get mine out about
once a day. Given the general temperament of Ball Pythons,
mine does not 'ball up' until he is back in his tank. Good luck
with your snake. I know bp and rtbs are not the same,
but it seems as though most snakes like being handled, and
may freak out a tad after being with us humans. Just a thought.

My ball python does that too some time, just wraps up and stays there until
I move him. I don't really know if that is of any concern, maybe its just a sort
of comfort level.

Lemme guess, top opening vivarium?
Mine fights me about going back in too...come to think of it, mine fights me about coming out too...something about being held from above I think instinctually bothers them

Getting my snake in and out of the enclosure reminds me of my brother and showers...It's hard to get em in, but once they're in they won't come out and Vice versa...I have a 5 foot bci and it raises #$%^$%^$%^$%^& both ways.

What exactly do you mean by "snake freaked out"? Did it strike out or just get wiggly or what ?

red tails love to spend much of their time climbed on trees in nature, as an arboreal snake, the feel very comfortable resting on the hands and fingers of their owners(a branch-like structure), if form time to another they feel his substrate its not safe (when you are trying to get the boa off your hands to put it on a flat substrate) the will get very nervous, so they will turn back, or move fastly side to side, trying to grab on a branch for climbing on. this happened to me few times with my little redtail (not so little now). now i just get mi hand, with the snake curled on it into the tank, near a branch or a hiding place and wait until it starts to move on, once it has a part of its body on a safe surface you can take your hand gently or rub its back softly to make it move faster, then you are done.
