Questionable pink goo in niji's water
ok, so i just recently got Niji, my comlumbian rainbow, and he just shed for the first time with me. His shed was in his water basin along with his last meal. There was also a questionable substance smeared around the basin. It really frightens me because it looked a bit like blood. It was like Pinkish slime. I checked him over and a couple of his scales on his back were pulled of with the shed, but aside from that, no woundage. I don't really know if the goo was with the shed or the feces..I know pictures wouldv'e been helpful, but i was a little too shaken to think of that at the time. Any info you have is really apreciated. And i do intend to bring him and a fecal sample to a vet fairly soon.
Also, how big are mites? i saw this really really tiny bug on the thermometer in his tank, but i saw none of them on him or anywhere else in the tank...

Maybe he ate a punk rock rat with pink hair?? LOL
Are you sure that it wasnt like mildew or algae from the water? If I dont wash out my bowls every water change with bleach, in a few days they get a pink slime in them. Even if I just rinse them, they still get a layer of the stuff. Weird!
Also if you arent seeing the little bugs on your snake or in its water bowl after a soak, I would be it isnt mites, but just some lil bug that got in there. If your concerned about it, I would treat it with 5% Sevin Dust.
I would def. recommend the fecal on him as well though

I would say that it came from your snake's vent. While urinating or deficating, there can be a spot of blood that exits as well. If there has been no signs of going to the bathroom, have you ever witnessed your snake fart? There's liquid that comes out along with air bubbles (if in water, of course) that very likely could contain a small amout of blood.
