My husband and I have different tastes in snakes and are trying to come to a compromise. I'm wanting something that will be between 7ft and 12ft when grown. I love red tails but my husband wants more pattern/color. He loves the "tail" of a red tail but does not like the silver body. We are both wanting something that is calm. He got a 1 year old burm because it was VERY tame BUT, I'm not looking forward to a snake that could eat ME....lol Anyone have ideas on the kind of snake I could maybe talk him into getting instead of the one we have?

How about a carpet python? They fit the size range, have pretty good temperment and the right subspecies has IMO nice color pattern...

Or any number of colubrids!

All kinds of colors and sizes!

By the way, are you trying to talk him into giving up the burm?

I'm going to TRY to get him to give it up for something that will stay within the range that I can handle also. I have always had ball pythons, and loved them but I was wanting something alittle bigger, but my goodness, I dont think he understand just how big we are talking here. The berm we have is right at 5ft now and very calm and easy to handle.

I did check out a web site on carpet pythons and they do have the colors he likes. Any idea on prices?

I also don't want a colubrid because Ive had a large rat snake and I just like the slower moving snakes..
