Okay, overnight my boa seems to have gain confidence. All of a sudden he went from constant hiding to hello here I am. He just sits in the corner all day now. I have recently moved my king a little closer to him and was wondering if they can smell each other and he's just like "whats' that smell"
He's 2 or 3 times the size of my king but I've never introduced them to each other in fear of stress and the outcome of then owning one snake. So, any clues, is it a confidence thing or is he getting stressed or what? Just looking for some suggestions

Capt..Sounds like your boa is very comfortable in his surroundings..NOT stressed. Some of mine do this and hardly ever use their hides
Only other thing I would ask is:
Is your hide located only over the hot end..cuz if so..your snake may be not hiding cuz it is choosing cooler temps over hiding .
If not..don't worry about it..hehe [addsig]

Uhum Be careful with the king snake they take rattlesnakes and make them lunch. Iam not sure if they are that way CB or is it a natural response to other snakes..

umm doug, my king is about 1/3 the size of my BCI. Unless he's got some huge balls I think he'd run. He's like 19" and my bci is at 42". little different in size. he's better now though. after I fed him he went back into his hide, burrows again (no poo I checked) and climbs around a little more, I think he's just gaining trust in me. i just got a 1yr 3mth old Guyana BCC on this past saturday at the Columbia, SC show. it's a male and the first day he was out and about all over exploring his enclosure. the next day he was out again so i handled him and he was very sweet. i would reach in, he'd see me, raise his head and sniff and then set it back down. then i would touch him lightly with a coat hanger, he'd be cool so then i'd reach in and pick him up from the side.

the next day he 'found' his terra cotta hide and stayed in there all day and all of the night that i'd seen, so i let him be.

yesterday, he was still there, so i decided to try getting him out again. he was a perfect little angel. he doesn't hiss, is very sweet and relaxes shortly after i get him out. i am totally smitten! after i put him back he also became much more confident and started climbing amongst the branches and vines i have set up for him and really seemed to be enjoying it.

anyway, i think he's already comfortable, even climbed on my friend last night. i was kind of concerned about getting a BCC, but my concerns have gone away completely. when i was looking around at the show, he was suggested to me. as i was reaching to hold him i asked if he might bite and Ben said that this guy was really docile. it's proved to be true so far and i'm just delighted. just wanted to share!

Please do not pull up old posts skadiwolf. A month or two is not that bad, but after that time period, it gets pretty annoying. If you find something and still debate it, just post a new thread and link to the old one. Thanks.
