I live in SoCal and, I've got heating down pretty well. My question is with cooling. In one of my python books, it indicates that temperature drop can be important for breeding. Living in a fairly temperate climate, I'm not positive that I'll be able to get the temperature right without some kind of cooling. Is there any cooling system that doesn't require freon and a compressor? I would only have to drop it a few degrees, probably no more than 10. Are there any reasonable solutions? Am I just worrying too much? If it makes any difference, I'm planning on working with Burmese or Retics.

Uhhh... A refridgerant system??????
NO!!!!
Just play with things such as the heat lamps, heaters, UTH temps etc!
You'll get them TOO cool with a frdge system!

I would say that makes perfect sense and, indeed, that's what I'm doing with my Red Tail but these are going to be out in the garage as room is at a premium in the house. I'm just worried that we'll have warm winter and I'll have problems breeding as a result.

I have no experience breeding either of these snakes, but just for a reference, a lot of snakes "cooling temps" will be in the mid-70's low 80's. so it's not really a cooling compared to humans, but compared to snakes. again, don't go by these temps, I'm not sure exactly what they should be for your breeds, just look it up to be sure. -Juggalo
