Hello
My boa is a addictied to pots. i have had clay pots in her cage ever since i bought her and now she wont hide in anything else. She is about five feet long and pots are just a pain to take care of and it getting kind of hard to find some that are big enough to fit in the cage. Anyways i tryed swicthing her to cardbroard boxes and she destroyed the cage looking for her favorate pot. She doesnt like plastic, cardbroard or wood hides.
What should i do is she going to be a pot addict for ever?

Hi i guess i dont really have a problem finding big pots, but they are a pain in the butt to cut holes in. How are you cutting your holes maybe theres a easyier way to cut these things?
Also my cage is large plastic cage with sliding glass doors in the front, sorry i dont know the brand name of the cage. It is about 7ftlong, 2ft high, and 3 ft deep.
So my cage is not that tall and there is only about one our two sizes bigger i can go with clay pots. also i have to be able to lift the pot over the snake in the cage to get to little bugger out. She never leaves her pot, and if she does she gos right into another pot. Another problem is that on the Hot side the roof of the cage is indented in about a half of foot to set the heat lights. So there is really a close clearence on that side. Do i really need to have a hide right by the heat lights? Also are any of your snake picky about there hides? And can my boa be broken in to hideing in something else, with out a huge amount of stress?
After I took her pots out boy was she #$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^&, i thought for sure when i stuck my hand in there she was going to tag me.

I hear ya about cutting holes! a hack saw is slow, but with patience it works, a regular wood saw works the best, I've found, but will dull your blade badly. either way, it can be a pain! what does everyone else use to cut pots? -Juggalo

my b/f uses a cutting wheel on his Makita drill. It wears the wheel down quite a bit, but it works

Yeah or get a dremmel with a sawblade. you will wear out the discs fast but its allot easier to cut that way.

I have found a hack saw with a special cermaic blade (it round and looks like course sand paper) works well, and the blades last quite awhile. i have found that a ripping saw with a metal cutting blade works well also (AND I JUST RECENTLY SEEN A ROUND CERMAIC BLADE FOR THE RIPPING SAW, I WILL BUY ONE AND LET YOU GUYS KNOW HOW IT WORKS, tHIS BLADE COULD BE THE ANSWERS TO OUR PRAYERS), then use a cermaic soorer which puts a fine cut in the pot and then you tap it with a hammer and it breaks pretty clean. also a drill press works good with a circular blade, however destroys the blade and it hard to find a cheap one the in a big size. And another, this method is not so great requres a lot of filling. use the cermaic soorer to outline the hole you want, then use a small ceramic drill bill and drill holes every quater inch or less perferably, and then gently wack with a hammer, this is OK but the others work better.
Also are you guys useing water when you cut the pots? This makes the pots easyer to cut and save the blades a little, also reduces breaking. I usally soak my pots in the bathtub for a wile and then use a spray bottle and spray water as i am cutting works great.

that's so weird, coz we put a toilet roll tube in with our hognose snakes for a hide and they tore it to shreds! It looked like a hundred Gerbils had given it there best shot! Guess they didn't like it too much
