RTB members, I enjoy the site, many have given valuable info, thanks again. Anyhow
I'm planning on purchasing a new snake in the next month or so. I own an iguana, Chino,
and a ball python, Mr. Soprano, but I do not own a boa. I'd like to get one as soon
as I have some extra cash to play with. Any suggestions as to what would look good
in a 55 gallon tank, setups, pics, whatever info you could throw out would be fantastic.
I must say, red tails are attractive snakes, and from your posts seem have a good temperament.
Just leave a post if you want.

Thanks,
Nick Nacrelli

Also, any websites of quality breeders, who have good prices, could you leave that as
well? As I've read on this site, it seems as though many of you breed
and have experience with shipping and selecting quality pets. I'd like to
get a good looking, one, maybe with a het, or some noticable color
morph. Just leave one.

Thanks,
Nick

Welcome to RTB! The best advice I can give you is look around. You can visit the Board of Inquiries of FaunaClassifieds for some help with a good breeder. Inquire about a breeder there and someone who has dealt with them can give input about them. If you want morphs go to the Boaphile. He has awesome morphs and is a pleasure to deal with. As for what will look good in a 55gal tank? Any boa would look good in my eyes!!! Also, you might want to give your future snake a little more room when it gets older because a 55'er in my opinion is a little small width wise. The Boaphile has some awesome cages available also. Good luck with your future snake and never stop researching about your animal.

redtails temperment generally are great with a few factors such as handling correctly, and proper husbandy. dont limit urself to buying expensive cages, or huge glass tanks.....as i found out last week it is rather easy and inexpensive to build a large enclosure. i built a 4x2x2 cage for around 60 dollars plexi glass included. As far as looking for reputable breeders...several members of this site breed, and have babies for sale, i dont know of any morphs for sale on this site however, but i know some very trustworthy people have some for sale. Lori_snakesrule has some, and i think morti is still sellin a couple. good luck.

we still have some babies available in the photo album as for setup we put together a more astetically pleasing tank for one of our balls it has reptibark a synthetic rock water dish a couple of realistic hides, a water fall and one of those styrofoam backgrounds if you think you might be interested in something like that check out our album and go to the python pix It's the pix of Domo
I also wrote a review on the boaphile cages. They are very nice and I REALLY need to get some more.

I have had very good luck with the snakes that i have aquired from individuals on this site. and i have found most if not all to be healthy, clean animals. as far as morphs i have tried to stay away from them for varoius personal reasons SO MY PERSONAL OPINION : is that if you find one in the trading post that you like and are drawn too, then go ahead and get it it will be your buddy for a long time so get what you want and enjoy!!!!!!
as far as caging i have several tanks, which is all that i had available to me when i first got in this, and iam no to fond of them. iam currently looking to buy a boaphile cage.. the price is not bad compared to others and the maintain humidity and temp better than glass front opening and easy to clean. so what ever you decide on caging and animals... good luck to you and i know that you will enjoy your future snake as much as we enjoy ours. and again i will say: WELCOME TO RTB... Thanks for the tips. I have a 55 open right now, but as the snake grows
larger, another tank or type of habitat would be purchased. Plus it would
be sitting on an entertainment center in our living room, I would look really
cool. I'll let you know when I decide.

HI,
I would buy form a boa breeder the snakes are in excellent health and have been cared for by an expert many pet store boa can come with RI and mites.
http://redtailboa.net/modules.php?op...pic=7645&4
The shortcut I posted is oneof my favorite breeders , that I have ordered a hog and a pastel boa this year, both are super nice quality.

this boa should cost around 260.to270 dollars,at 195.oo shipping included ,, its a steal and his parents are really nice
you will not see a boa this nice in a pet store very often .

I'll get that pastel male but I have his brother already.. hehehe

A 55 would work for a bci male wouldn't it? I thought they only got like 6 or 7 feet long, like a large female ball python, and ive never heard anyone say a 55 is too small for a ball python

55 Gal wont last more than 2 years for a BCI, depending on which rule of thumb for tank size you use. Usually they're 4'L, 1'W, and 2'H. Half the tank is wasted space, at least as far as the snake is concerned.

You could go with a Hogg, a 55 will hold em' for awhile. But I do have to agree that the width will be to narrow. I feel 2 feet is the minimum width I would ever go with.
