feeding during shed?
I was wondering if its ok to feed during shed? Because alot of people have told me not to because it will break their neck.(?) So anyway, is it ok to feed my boa? im not going to feed him normal size, but a little smaller.
Thanks,

just wait till he sheds. i have been told by more then one person that the snake is so blind they have been known to bite thierselves instead of the rat. just give him a normal size meal after shed. also many snakes wont eat when in blue.

This women who was supposedly a "expert", I knew her son. Anyway, i just wanted to clear that up because it was bugging me between what she said and what i had oringanly thought which was what you said . she said it would be a bad idea because the rat would push the neck bone against the tight skin. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

yah i dont think there is any way they can get hurt...other than what rex said about biting themselves....its just a general rule of thumb not to feed during shed bc it will stress the snake out

I fed in shed once on accident... didn't notice his eyes were blue. As a general rule, I wait for the shed cycle to finish before feeding just to be on the safe side. But just so you know, the one time I fed in shed was fine, and it ended up being the first complete shed he ever had.

It makes the shed more difficult due to extra stretching of the belly. Obviously it won't "break their neck" but I don't think its generally a good idea.

figured Id update this, I just went to check on here and she had s HUGE piece of shed in her mouth and I nearly lost a finger trying to ensure she didnt eat it. Good or bad I felt it had to be done. So for future referance dont feed in shed just to be safe. Now... off to find a bandaid.
