Retained Eye Caps.. Do they NEED to come off?
I have had my Ball Python for about a month now. She had a bad shed because, unknowingly, I bought her mid shed and moved her to a new enclosure in my house. This was a little too stressful to have a normal shed. I was able to get the shed off that hadn't come off on it's own thanks to all your guys advise. It was almost like she was thankful to get the skin off.
Anyway, I can't bring myself to do much with her head as far as getting the bad shed and eye caps off. The breader I bought her from said not to worry about it and that all would be taken care of next shed. She is eating like a champ so I know she is alright. But what are your thoughts? I have a vet that can get them off but do I need to worry about it or will they come off in the next shed?

As long as the humidity is right they should come off next shed. Be sure to check the shed to ensure that they do.

Thanks... I just didn't know if I needed to take her to the vet to have them taken off or if it really could wait till next shed.

you can always put the snake in a tub/container with paper towels or a washcloth thats been moistened in luke warm water, leave it in there for a few hours and it may just rub off with a gentle rub (with a clean hand)
what you have to watch out for is multiple retained caps, after awhile the eyeball will simply die and fall out, but thats in extreme cases.

just check the shed real good to make sure they came off. if they dont you can use a Q tip with mineral oil and rub them real gently, that should take them off.
