Pest control plug-ins??? The mother of all stupid questions.
I was asked by a friend if those pest control devices that you plug into the wall and distribute a high frequency sound could affect a snake. I know snakes don't hear per say but pick up vibrations and we are just not sure if these emit any kind of vibration that could be picked up by the snake. It would not be in the same room as the snake but still a concern just being in the home. Any ideas on this?

My friend has one in her living room and her daughter is getting a snake. The snake will be in her bedroom which is probably about 30-35 feet away from the living room where the product is plugged in. She is willing to take it out if need be but would prefer to keep it plugged in if it would not cause harm.

From what I understand they don't affect anything much, including pests. On the off chance that they really do emit some sort of high freq vibrations I would say keep it well away from any herp, just in case...

LOL, that is pretty much what I have heard too. It is supposed to emit a high frequency sound that is supposed to drive the pests from your house. If it is bugs they are after, try boric acid. It is harmless to pets and DOES keep roaches, ants and other bugs away. I use it in my snake building around the perimeter of the room on the floor and have had no bugs at all. It is also a lot cheaper that one of the devices.

LOL, I'm sure she'll love to hear that. I'll have to tell her about the Boric acid. Would she just put it around the paremeter of her house or actually inside the house?
Thanks for the replies. I think I may just tell her to discontinue it to be on the safe side anyways.

It is a powder and you just put it along the walls on the inside of the house. The ants or roaches walk through it and it kills them. It is harmess mammals. You can get it at Home Depot, Lowes or Ace hardware.
