My Ball python is fed well and is not shedding. But he contumues to lung at me. I wear gloves so I don't feel the bite and don't get panicked. HE is in the later part of 1 year old my vet said. I really want to hold him but he either gets the heck away from me or lunges. HE is not held alot so it isn't about over handling. Actually I would say I don't handle him alot due to complications he has had. When I bought him he had mites I had to treat and I had to get him back to nourishment because he had been underfed. Then he went thrrough 2 sheds, one right after another. His sheds and everything are over but he is sure aggressive. Anyone have any suggestions. SOmetimes I hold him and he lunges at who ever is standing next to me. I would like to hold him and feel comfortable holding him around people and alone but really need suggestions. He is 2 and a half feet long.

Thanks!
Andy and Cheryl

Are you feeding in the cage or in a seperate feed tote? Usually if you feed in the cage, this sometimes results in then giving feeding responses everytime the cage is open. Handling him about 30 minutes or more a day should get him used to being held and he should eventually calm down.

I feed him in a separate feeding place. That was onething I was warned to do. I try to hold him for 30 minuites but after 5 minuites he is trying to get away from me and gets very agitated. Haven't been holding him this week because I have only 1 hand to use since the other has stitches. Darn cat food lid. Worried bout dropping him because of how he tries to leave my hand.
When I got him he was under fed, mites on him. He is through that and up to weight. Plus done with 2 sheds one right after another. His skin is looking healthier. ANd he is looking more healthy all around. Thanks for responding so quickly.
