I have read the thawing instructions, but have a Q..... Do I put the rat in the water or in a 'bag' into the water? Said to drip dry, not towel dry, so I think 'without' a bag.....Going to feed her today, hopefully she will eat a rat, never had one before, never had frozen before. She is really hungry! Thanks for the answer in advance!

I thaw mine out using plastic sandwich bags to keep the rat/mice from getting wet. This is just to keep from wasting papertowels drying them off. Drop the bag into warm water and let the thaw begin.

Hi Diane,
Either way is fine, as long as dinner is served warm!
Normally, I keep mine in the baggie, I grow my own food, so all I have to do is pull'em out of the freezer and put them straight in the water.
With out a baggie, they lose some scenting, but unless you have a problem feeder, then don't worry too much. The water won't hurt the snake, naturally and it some times seems like it helps them get the food down easier.

As long as the gerbil is about the right size and the snake eats, then it is perfectly fine, especially since it isn't alive to do any chewing!
