You should be able to notice when your snake goes blue. Actually, the eyes will turn a very murky looking blue. Also, your snake may become a little grumpy during this time. The skin with also turn very dull looking, to me it's looks very blurry.

quick question here...my baby RTB is shedding for the first time. Well, actually WAS supposed to shed. It's been out of blue for going on 2 weeks now, and NO sign of shedding, and the skin is really wrinkly. I have misted it everyday, given it baths, and have recently started spraying it with a reptile moisturizing vitamin spray. I am at a loss for any other ideas on how to get it to shed. I *believe* it's blocking his nostrils, as he now keeps his mouth open a little, and has little *coughing* spurts now and then. I don't think it's an RI, as I have the heat on the higher end due to an earlier scare. I can't find one spot to begin helping him shed, such as aorund his mouth/lips, nor his stomach (usually the first place it loosens, in my experience) Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Nothing to worry about really. It can take a few weeks after they go out of their blue phases. It would be handy to make sure he had something to help him shed on, like a rock or something similiar.

if it hasn't had it's second shed yet, it probably will pretty soon.

When you give him baths do you mean you wash him, do are you soaking him? if you are sure he doesn't soak himself, you can soak him yourself. keep the water 79-82 degrees, and soak for a half hour or so a day. I am a major herptocondriac, but I would take him to the vet if he sheds, and is still having the same signs.

what I meant was...I soak him. That vita-spray seems to be helping a little, but I picked him up tonight, and he let out a big gust of air, like it was trapped in him. It wasn't a hiss, I know that much. That is really bothering me. I really hope he doesn't have parasites or an RI...I'm thinking it's that his nose is plugged up from the shed skin, but until he sheds, I have no way of knowing, aside from a trip to the vet, which I can't honestly afford at this moment in time. I guess I'll just have to wait it out. He seems to be *trying* to get it off every now and then, but for the most part, he stays in ONE spot day and night. Not like his normal behavior...kinda scary...
