i have no idea he shed about 3 days ago but his last shed before this one left a retained eyecap and the petstore chick told me to let him soak and use a wet q-tip and i think i might have dented his eye

Dented eyecaps are an early sign of dehydration or too low humidity in the snake's environment. What is the setup like (temps, humidity, substrate, cage furniture)? Is it living in a glass aquarium or in a plastic enclosure?

it's in a glass aquarium, aspen substrate with repti-bark on top(recycled newspaper and other paper products i like it because its non toxic and easy to clean.) the humity stays at anywhere between 50% to 68% temps in daytime 83-86f and at night 74-77 hide box on one side under heating pad , heat lap for basking. screentop covered in foil with a moist towel on top to keep the humity at max during sheds. i think right now his eye looks good he was born in april i almsot wanna call the petstore and ask if the lady who breeds them can give me the exact date he was born, she breeds rats and snakes and gives them to the pet store, is that weird lol . when i had dogs i did a very small celebration for their birthdays ,pets are like kids . so my RTB is 1 yr's old now ,thats if his date of birth has already passed or is coming up hehe, but anyway i hope i will take another look and see how his eye is . ill write if it still is dented ,other then the dented eyecap from last , last shed he is very healthy . thanks bunches

I agree with Lady.... Give him a soak in a rubbermaid for 3 hours or so. Start with warm water, and if you have one, place a human heat pad under it on low. If not to big deal, a few hours in cool water won't kill him
My male bp has this problem from time to time, usually because he doesn't find the water I'm guessing. So a long soak helps rehydrate him.
Make sure he's got a water dish big enough for him to fit in easily, filled with about an inch-inch 1/2 of water.

How exactly are you measuring the humidity? If it's an analog hygrometer, it could very well be way off. Aspen sucks humidity out of the air as does the heat lamp. Daytime temps should reach 88, nighttime should never drop below 75.
Best solution: Build a humid hide box. Just a plastic container with a hole cut in the side or top, the bottom covered with clean, damp sphagnum moss or cypress mulch, enough for him to burrow in a bit. The BP will habitate the hide box when he needs more humidity. When he needs a dry substrate he'll leave the box.

he is just dehydrated so just bumb up his humidity by misting him down 2-3 times a day and make sure he has a large water bowl in his cage and he will snap right back into perfect health in a few days. If this doesnt work e-mail me at Kristinarist565@msn.com
