weird
hi all
over the last few days my boa has become really active.. he seems to never keep still, and i've even noticed him digging and putting some of his body into the substrate, and when i say active i mean he's moving around the enclosure, and coming up to the glass at the front and raising his body and moving his head around in the air all over the place... he also seems to respeond when a person goes near the enclosure, example, he`ll go right up to the glass and start moving his head around and sometimes he'll just stay in a place close to the glass and stare, maybe i'm being paranoid again.. i'm just not used to seeing the snake so active so i was wondering if there could be something wrong, temps and humidity are all all right and he isn't due for feeding untill wednesday so it isn't any of those that's causing it.

How often are you feeding him and how old is he? I know my boas are most active when feeding day comes around. Even though we humans may not perceive it much the days are getting longer and so some animals might get more active with the onset of spring. It may be just your animal too. Some of my boas are typically active (especially my Argentines) and others are lumps.

Is there any chance he could have mites? All the moving could be from him trying to escape them.

What are the temps? How are you measuring them? Where are your thermometers located in the cage?

the temps are 85 - 90 on the hot side and mid 70's on the cool side, no he doesn't have mites i checked that, i'm measuting the temps with a digital theremometer and the thing that reads the temp is near the bottom where the substrate is just past halfway of the enclosure going to the wam side, and i have the same setup on the cool side cept the reader is right in the oposite corner, i'm feeding him once a week on weinder rats and he's at yearling age

Sounds like he is cruising for food to me. All my boas and burms do that when they get hungry.

Feed him and see if his behavior calms down. Also check for black specs in his water, on shed, and on skin.
