Can anyone reccomend a good book on reptile parasites, or tell me ones that they would stay away from?
I would like to get a book and a microscope...I want to learn about the things that happen internally in my snakes. I know a little that I have picked up from talking to others but it sure would be nice to have a reference guide lying around the house!
I have been to Barenes & Noble online to look up books but I want someones opinion on this. Books are hard to decide on just by looking at the cover! LOL
Thanks,
Ted

Understanding Reptile Parasites, by Roger J. Klingenberg D.V.M
A great, cheap little book. With photos of various parasites. Both ecto and endo, and explaining all the means with which to perform fecals at home. Put out by AVS books. Written in laypersons terma as well.
Entropy,
ALex

Another good text is Reptile Medicine & Surgery by Mader. It's a good all-around veterinary text which I find myself consulting more often than any other.

your welcome.
I just got a national geographic from 1927 from that source. It is SO COOL. I was so impressed. They had Komodo Dragon photos in it---I'll take a pic of it when I get a chance.
That guy has all out of print stuff too---new, used--you name it.
He can even get books in other languages.

Reptile and Amphibian Parasites by Rundquist is another one that's still pretty easy to find. It's not bad for a thin little paperback that looks like one of those petstore books like "Know your parakeet" or something. It's packed full of photos and good information.
you know....I never really gave this much thought, but I bet if you bug the right vet enough, you might score one of those cool posters that they get from the drug companies. I think eddie had his vet copy one and I got a scan of it from eddie and keep it tacked up on my wall by my microscope for quick reference and it works. If anyone want's that file to print for yourself just email me at rdkill@rocketmail.com. It has a some writing on it from a sharpie marker, translating latin to roundworms, tape worms etc. If anyone here works for a vet office or has a cool source and can snag a stack of those things ...PLEASE share the wealth!
