Most likely your snake can smell the feeding rodent on itself. You need to give the snake a bath so that it can not smell any rodent on itself...it should stop doing it then.

Shame Shame Shame we know your name. There is absolutely no reason to feed a boa live prey. My babies took frozen thawed on their first feeding. Switch it over before you train it to eat live only. This wil be real bad for the snake and very inconvenient fo you later. When you get him on frozen thawedd you can just buy a bunch of them instead of running to the pet store every week for a rat.

Umm, where are you guys getting that this guy is feeding live mice? He didn't say anything about feeding live in his original post, or any of his posts, really.

I think in his post where he said "yeah" he was saying yes to the feeding live question.

Ohh okay, the first time I looked at this thread, Lori's posts had apparently switched places. I was also wondering why he was even saying "Yeah" to begin with. No, I don't suffer from dyslexia. No I don't. Don't I no. Don't I no.

Who knows? There've been cases of snakes being autophagious in the wild, and in captivity. All pretty much for unknown reasons. It should be pointed out however that of all the wild snakes being recorded performing this behaviour have been, at least to some extent, herpophagious( i am unaware of this being used as a valid scientific term, so i'm making it up ).
A mammaphagious reptile turning autophagious? Possibly due to hunger and the scent of rodent on itself, coupled with said rodent being in it's stomach.
