IYO some help

Im trying to get my stepsister to let her son get a snake. He is really interested in them. Ive looked at a few Spotted Pythons for him. The only issue is that her roomate has a Argie Boa, and has convinced her that you cant have two snakes in the same house. The rooms they will be kept on are on two different floors. her roomate really knows nothing, but thinks she does. id just like some of your thoughts so I can print them up and let her hear from those of you who can let her know the truth.

They can live in the same house, look at breeders! They keep racks and the animals are right by eachother.Just make sure the new guy gets quarintined,(SP?).I think the roomate is talking about the snake could get IBD or something.

Spotted pythons, children's pythons or (my favorite) Stimson's pythons are great easy to take care of pythons that don't get too big and are generally very docile. If the room mate is concerned about IBD good husbandry and a proper quarantine should take care of the issue- It is my understanding that Boas acutually harbor IBD much longer than pythons which can be affected in a relatively short period of time. My daughter started helping me with my snakes when she was about 8, I think it was a great experience for her! She's 21 now!
