Green Anole Loosing Weight
I posted this thread under the "other lizards" forum also, but I thought this forum may be more helpful.
The Green Anole that I caught a few months ago has recently been looking a little thin to me. I don't always see him eat, but this isn't unusual. His enclosure stays around 75F in the mid and lower levels, (it's a 20g T) and his basking spot stays around 85-88F. Humidity varies from about 60%-75%. He is about 5" long, and I offer him about 2 or 3 small crickets every day, and I dust them with a calcium/vitamin supplement 3 times a week.
I've considered releasing him (Green Anoles are native, and very common in my area.), hoping that he would do better in the wild, but it's starting to get really cold here (into the low 30's at night). I'm afraid that the huge temp difference between the vivarium and outside would hurt him. Should I keep him 'til Spring, and keep offering him the crickets? Any suggestions would be appreciated! I just want to do what is best for my Anole!
