tinting glass?
My green tree monitor is food-crazy- so much so that any time he thinks I might feed him (which is every time I walk over to his cage) he leaps at the glass. I'm afraid one of these days he's going to seriously hurt himself. I've thought about etching designs on the glass, but I'm afraid he'll just try to go between the designs. I've also thought about tinting it, but I'm not sure that will work. I don't want to cut the visibility down so much that I can't see him anymore, but then again, I don't want him to be able to see out so easily. Plus, good tint is expensive, and the doors on his cage are huge. (The opening is 46"X53".) Any ideas?

I had a snake do that for months, I was getting worried about her snout. I finally newspapered her door over the cage glass for a while. I had one little hole so I could look in before I opened the door to see where she was. I started feeding her a little more, thought it might be a hunger thing.. then Eddie( he still around???) asked me about hide boxes in the cage... yeah she didn't have one she liked. I added a nother hide box on the other side of her cage and some fake plants for her to hide in. She stopped. Hope one of these ideas works. If it doesn't.... well put her in a lower traffice area to lower her stress level. Trina

Stress isn't the problem. He only does it when I walk over to the cage, because he thinks I have food. He would eat til he regurged if I let him.

Mostly lobster roaches, with the occasional pinky or fuzzy for variety.

I guess my only suggestion is feed him more..... when most of my monitors search for food I give them smaller insects to eat-almost constant supply-and cure the boredom factor....but then again, most of my monitors run like #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& when I come near their cages *shrug* I guess I look scary Good luck with him.
