My Boa ESCAPED!!!
Last night I checked on him before I went to sleep just to make sure he was alright, everything was fine. I woke up this morning and went to check on him and he wasn't there. I looked under the fridge and anywhere else I could think of that generates heat but to no avail. I am really upset because I just got him last tuesday. I have a huge light setup on top of the cage that I used to use for my lizard but just use to keep weight on top so he can't escape (which obviously didn't work) and I also have a couple of other heavy objects on top. This didn't work so he escaped and now I don't know what to do. Will he be able to escape out of the house now through any small places? I am so worried please help!!!

Sorry to hear about your escapee, I am going through a similar problem today- but we can't begin to figure out how he got out of his cage....
Anyway some thoughts... the "heated" places are a good start, newspapers, magazines, drawers, throw rugs, plants, pillows, dog beds, under the sink, sofa, carpet seams, shoes, anything on the floor- but they can crawl up, drains (I'm a little worried about that one), A/C or heating vents, behind your computer CPU, bird cages, small animal cages, curtains, yes unfortunately we found a couple of small openings to the outside which he might have slithered through.....Since these guys are nocturnal (and he is supposed to eat tomorrow) we plan to have a "snake hunting" party tonight. There are some other posts in the forum that have additional ideas. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you! Good Luck

here's a idea...take a shoe box if the snake is small or a small box..cut a hole big enough to the snake to get out or just a tad bit smaller....throw a prekilled prey item in there and wait and pray to god the snake is hungry..
snakes are generally to lazy to move after they eat a big meal so if your snake finds the food then he/she will most likey stick around..
but check anything else that you wouldnt normally think of..empty boxes, cases, drawers...dishwashers, dryers..tv stands...clothing and closets...dont for get to check up high too..
when we lost our ball python a few weeks ago, he climbed up the closet in the snake room and hid in between boxes.

In the mean time, work on a locking lid or a different cage to minumize the next escapes.

Thanks for all of your advice. Stupidly I didn't think to look under the bark and sure enough he was buried under it. Thank goodness because I was really sad after I thought he escaped

And alls well that ends well.
Still, I suggest you work on Eddies advice now you know how painful and scary it can be to lose a snake and get a proper, fixed locking lid sorted out.
