heating for winter?

Well, now the temp aroung the town has dropped its is colder at night in my snakes cages (around 73f on cold side, Im not too sure on the hot side) so Im been always been using heat lamps in the day leaving them off at night and constantly beeen running a UTH, I was just wondering if I need more heat for night,(like black lights) or if its just fine with my UTH at night.

Thanks,
Erik

It's really impossible to say without using a good digital thermometer to check the temps. If you can find a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer with a min/max memory, you can find out the how low the temp drops at night, and adjust from there. I put the main unit on the cool side, and the probe directly over the UTH. If the temps drop below 75 on the cool side or 78-80 on the warm side at night, you may want to add a red or black bulb. Just make sure it doesn't raise the temps too much.
