Question What should I do if...

We just adopted a sick boa( on purpose). The guy who gave him to us said he thinks it has a respiratory infection. I've made an appointment with our vet, but it is not for a few weeks. He has a small amount of mucous around his mouth and wheezes a bit. No temper. We also suspect mites. The boa is separated from all of our other snakes and has a clean tank, now. Is there another way to get rid of mites or to keep the respiratory infection at bay untill he can get to the vet?

Thanks,
Thea

Welcome to RTB.net!
Great work on rescuing a snake in need.

I just have a few questions:
What temps/humidity are you keeping him at?
What is his set up like?
How big/old is he?
How long has he been sick? (if the other owner even knew)
Is he clicking and/or blowing snot bubbles?
Answer these things so we can better assist you.
For the mites you can follow this:

Re

Temperature is about 80 on the cool side, 85-86 on basking side. Humidity at 60%. He's about 4 feet long and in a 55 gallon tall - comfortable hide box, big water dish. He was on bark until mites became a problem, we just switched it to newspaper. He is clicking, breathing noisily, but no snot bubbles.
